Tom,
Are you asking this just so you know the best way to run an existing board
through
the wave? Or are you trying to influence how the board is being laid out?

This first diagram shows the preferred orientation through the wave.

If you can influence the board layout, ask that they put "robber" pads on
the
trailing edge of the I. C.
