"Three Rivers Designers Council"

          Good news, there is much interest in forming a local
          chapter of the I.P.C Designers Council in Pittsburgh serving
          the the greater Pittsburgh area. It time for technical
          representation in this area. Pittsburgh's electronic
          technology represents the telecommunications, medical,
          instrumentation, switching, and various other disciplines.

             Through this forum, much can be accomplished:

           *  improved communication in Pittsburgh

           *  designers can play a greater role in standards
              development

           *  promote a better understanding of design issues
              for manufacturability

           *  a platform for designers to give more input concerning
                  - drawings
                  - pcb's and pcb fab
                  - assembly
                  - design for manufacturability
                  - materials
                  - new technologies

           * encourage stronger relationships with assemblers and pcb
             fabricators

          Most importantly, the Three Rivers Designers Council will be
          based on the needs and concerns of the local area. As a
          local council, we can effectively cover issues that we face.

          I have just briefly touched on many of the functions this
          council can be responsible for. I would like to have an
          initial meeting in late January. The purpose of this meeting
          is to understand the interest generated in this type of
          forum and to further explore topics of interest.
