Hi Amol,
We added a new set of part numbers to our MRP system to track compliant
materials separately, and then translated the BOMs to the compliant
numbers. This way, we have physical segregation of parts, separate AVLs
for RoHS and non-compliant parts, and were (relatively) easily able to
burn off non-compliant material. Since we started conversion over a
year ago, we are still able to run "dirty" kits where the compliant
parts are not available, and the product is not intended for overseas
shipping (we still segregate the finished goods this way).

My question is to everyone who has already done this, are you using any MRP software that's SPECIFICALLY tailored to such a application, or is everyone making changes to their existing MRP softwares to reflect the segregation as they deem fit according to their existing conditions?

How does receiving inspection know what part comes in the door? Our current system is buyer specific (buyer will have to physically add a note saying its RoHS compliant.....and we all know how that would be a nightmare) and will not flag automatically if a RoHS complaint part is ordered thu the AVL.
