Your information is not accurate for all VP systems. Note that the term
Condensation Soldering (CS) also applies.

Our system, for SAC alloy melting at 218 DegC uses a 230 DegC boiling point
fluid. The actual temperature delta over melting / eutectic is less than 5
DegC.

In conventional convection ovens, the temp delta may well be 30 to 50DegC
over melting/eutectic, and this might explain the 270 DegC comment. There
are fluids with a 270 DegC boiling point, but they should not be required in
this process.

With a VP or CS type system, the vapour simply condenses onto all surfaces
that are colder than it, thus it is fast but controllable.
