You can add my name to the list of those who would like a solution to this
problem.  Typical probe life is 10-12 weeks for an experienced operator.  If the
tip does not break, it wears down to a nub.  If you train a new operator, buy a
new proble before the training begins - you'll need it by the end of the first
week!

We don't need no "stinkin" probe.
