Hi Lenny
The NanYa and Isola material is certainly in the same family of materials
so by large i would say they are comparable.
There could be a possibility that 406 gives off slightly less smoke when
burning, this is not part of the specification but your customer could
have tested several different materials for this reason.
A comparison test between the to materials on the same smoke desity test
equipment might give you an indication.

[TN] Smoke Desnity test, FR4-06 \ NP-170R
Howdy tech-netters, A while back we had a customer requesting FR4-06 pcb
material and one of our pcb vendors asked to use their manufacturer's
equivalent NP-170R instead. We approved it's use.
Recently a customer said our assemblies are failing a smoke density test.
One of our group members is suspecting the pcb material.
1) Could pcb material be related?
2) Is NP-170R a valid replacement for FR4-06?
Thanks,
Lenny Carter
