I would have to call this the wrong approach!  All soldering operations, be
they initial soldeing or rework/repair, need to be addressed as process
with an examination of materials and other processes involved.  There is no
magic bullet recommendation.  There are some baseline recommendations which
can be found in IPC-7711 and IPC-7721.

Please --- review your rework and repair applications as a legitimate
process with all the attendant responsibilities that go with that.  Also
please bear in mind that while I might be able to solder with a 900° iron
and acheive a perfectly acceptable solder joint with the workpiece not
being thermall overstressed, another operator using a 650° iron may destroy
the assemble.  I cannot overemphasize the training aspects and operator
skill levels required.
