Hi

After extensive tests by one comnpany, they found that the electromagnetic
water purification techniques had no measurable effect on the salts in the
water whether they be ions of icalcium, iron, fluorides or whatever. To
purify incoming water it can be treated with RO (reverse osmosis) units which
are available from dozens of companies such as Ransohoff, Koch, US Filter,
Trionetics etc. The total dissolved solids (calcium, iron, sodium. fluoride
salts are removed down to about 15 ppm.

You can add ion exchange beds after the RO to get it down to 18 megohm water
as some people want. Boiler waters and recirculating rinse water can be
treated with RO and to remove other things such as oils, an ultrafiltration
filter is added.

To remove calcium only from amixed salt solution requires dosing with a
material which will precipitate the undesirable element and then filtering it
to remove the precipitate. However, it is best to treat the incoming water
or process water with one of the treatments above.
