Siggi,

Phenolic/paper (FR2, XP, XXP, XXXP - don't remember the construction for
FR1) were never recommended for any applications with plated thru holes.
There might have been some Class 1 boards built, but the Z axis expansion
made thru hole plating unreliable for more demanding applications. In
general, paper/phenolic was used because of its low cost and ease of
punching.

Subject: [TN] phenolic boards

Hello

I have a question regarding the old days of electronics.
Does anybody know how much layers are possible with phenolic boards (FR1,
FR2)?
Or are just two layers because pressing is not possible?
Siggi
