I recommend that you refer to IPC-SM-786A, for specific handling 
issues. It does not, however, go into much detail about the broader issue 
of the plant itself.

The 786A refers to MIL-STD-1686 for ESD control. Potential health concerns 
(if any) could probably addressed in the IPC forum [log in to unmask]
