Very interesting.  I see the water part.  Now I want to see the connection quality and rework possibilities.



Then maybe we can adopt it for our requirements.

Hi Doug,



Just looking at something that might be a possible replacement for some moisture protection that would be easier to deal with than typical conformal coatings. The thing that caught my eye was that little to no masking is needed, which is about 80% of the labor (or more) when coating an assembly. I just went through an ordeal where we coated assemblies before electrical testing (I know that's not smart, but it is what it is) and we had gotten some coating on connector pins, it wasn't pretty.



I know that most of our customers will specify one of the traditional coatings (acrylics, silicones, etc.) for moisture protection, but if there's something out there that provides reasonable protection with half the labor that would be great!
