Hi Phil-
When we select a melf part it is usually because of the power rating over
temperature range, rather than price vs. ease of assembly.

[TN] To MELF or not to MELF
Good afternoon,
I recall hearing in my travels that the MELF component style for SMT was
not preferred due to mounting issues. It looks like some of the MELF
parts are less expensive than their chip cousins. I know "it depends",
but should I go for the price or ease of mounting?
Thanks in advance
Phil Nutting
