Mike -

This is a question which should probably go to the DIP switch manufacturer.
Tapes and other seals on DIP switches are usually present to prevent entry of
foreign materials such as solvents, fluxes, etc., during process. The process
residues can be either corrosive to the switch innards, break down internal
lubricants, or create unidentifiable compounds to bedevil the failure analysis
guys.

If the tape being used on your switches has a more or less permanent or heat
setable adhesive, then your process heating may be creating the problem. I've
encountered several similar devices over the years that we just had to class
as non-processable and ended up doing a hand load after everything else was
ready to test. (Until we could find someone who made a suitably process
durable part.)

Good luck - Regards - Kelly
