For SIR Doug's benefit: Scrap: ORIGIN late Middle English (as a plural noun
denoting fragments of uneaten food): from Old Norse skrap Œscraps¹ ; related
to skrapa Œto scrape.¹ The verb dates from the late 19th cent.

For Brian:

I have never known scrapped items to be accounted as a part of sales. We DO
have stock write-off's that may be set-off against tax on this side of the
pond. Stock write-downs may be in the range of 2 to 5% though that will be
heavily dependant upon your end product. I can see a bigger number when
lead-free kicks-in......
