     Stuart,
That all depends on how well equipped your fab house is. Some
facilities are equipped with machinery that can accommodate hundreds
of sizes in their tool magazines and controller software. Some shops
use machinery that can handle 9 or less tools at a time. If I
remember correctly from design 101, the specs for typical leaded
components have quite a wide range for finished hole diameter that
assembly operations can accommodate. If keeping your tool quantities
down has to be a consideration, you can try to take advantage of these
ranges when you set up your hole/pad stacks in the CAD library. (Or
     just eliminate leaded components, ha!)

Subject: [TN] Increase number of drill sizes

Over the past year we have upgraded our CAD library. Each component
has it own pad and/or hole size in the library. I have noticed this
has doubled the number of different drills needed compared with
previous boards layout in years past . Some of the drills sizes only
     vary by .003".

What problems is this causing for the board fab house?
