They are recycled only if returned to a recycling centre. Here in the States, were some of us are inconsiderate and lazy slobs, we just leave them in the car park or on the road side. It would be way too much work to properly pick up after ourselves and recycle things.

But then this is only my personal opinion. It is supported by all the trash I have seen thrown out car windows and the crap along our roads. I'm not proud of some of my fellow countrymen. Oh boy, here come the flames.

There is no issue with lead being present in a process just so long as there is no lead in the final RoHS compliant product being sold.

RoHS is intended to prevent lead (in waste electronic product - WEEE) going into landfill, as it has been identified that WEEE makes up a significant proportion of landfill.

Lead will still be used in accumulators etc. - in fact that's where most lead is used. The difference is that accumulators (car batteries) are recycled so the lead does not end up in landfill.

Chris

We are, ENIG is a cost adder.

But that will be our next project after getting the remaining RoHS/WEEE Directives implemented.

Tin-lead is used as etch resist for alkaline etching of pattern plated
PCB.After etching is stripped out.Completly.
No left-overs.What does this process has in common with RoHS ??? There is NO
lead on the PCB.
The same is applied, for example, to Cyanide. ENIG finishing is involved in
dipping the board in Cyanide containig Gold solution.Very toxic and very
powerfull poison.
Anyone is considering ban on ENIG finishing ???
Edward
