You are certainly not alone. Watch for the IPC D-35 committee's new
standard to be released soon on Handling, Packaging, and Storage of
PWBs.

Both finishes can be made reliably.  Both can be made poorly.  There's
just more ways to make ENiG poorly.

In our case, we have some very good suppliers, and have never had an
ENiG problem (except when the cost cutters try to qualify a new
supplier).  But our in-house material storage and handling is very
poorly controlled.  So we have more risk with ImAg.
