Hi Greg,

I don't know but I would guess that they use time honored silvering
processes used in making mirrors. Silver nitrate and a organic reducing agent  like
cream of tartar (sodium potassium tartarate, aka Rochelle salts) both  of which
have long use in medicine and cooking respectively (to lower some  of the fear
factor).  I would not make a steady diet of them  as silver could mess up
intestinal flora.
