I referred the a Scandinavian lifecycle report, I meant the Stuttgart
report... I got it confused with a "hermaphrodite polar bear linked to
brominated flame retardant" report.

See, admitting I was wrong didn't hurt too bad.. in fact I feel swell.

Subject: Re: [LF] EU environmental politicians

There are a number of environmentalists, myself (a professional
recycler) included, who have pretty much arrived at the following
conclusions:

1) The ban on lead in gasoline was the best environmental law ever
passed.

2) The ban on lead in solder is the worst environmental law ever
passed.

I read the Scandinavian lifecycle analysis which was suggested in this
forum a year ago. It was borderline/non-conclusive when not considering
increased use of gold or silver (mining of which is the dirtiest
environmental practice on earth). Use of any gold to contain tin
whiskers growth appears to make this not just a waste of limited
environmental dollars, but an actual increase in pollution.

We are very busy keeping up with the actual flow of old computers and
TVs but as a side project hope to find a USA environmental group such as
mineralpolicy.org to weigh in here. The impression I've gotten from LF
advocates/environmental politicians is that this is a mistake because of
the effort already expended and that at this point it would be better
just to go along, so as not to discredit the eco political front.
