Don't forget one more "fact", that the earth, according to quite a large number of people (and some "scientists"), is ~6000 years old, that the acheological artifacts are all the Devil's work to confuse us as to the real story of creation.

You can see where being ignorant of science has gotten us.

You'd think that by now, in the 21st century, we'd be a far more advanced species.

What's the significance of 400 years ago - there have been forest fires since the time there were forests and in more recent history but before European settlement, N American forests were burned down by native Americans to promote regeneration of lush forest.

Say, let's get governments to ban forest fires. They must release an awfully lot of this stuff. And, of course, the are man-made since forest fires didn't exist more than 400 years ago - right?

Yep it is going to get chilly. No burning wood..
Wood Burning Creates Dioxin, Radioactive Particles and Releases Stored Lead
Lead: produced from burning 2.2 pounds of wood = 0.1mg to 3 mg.
"Burning 1 kilogram of wood produced as much as 160 micrograms of total dioxins.
his result was obtained when various specimens of wood were burned in different toves. Soot was collected and analyzed by well-designed and documented rocedures. Tetrachlorinated, hexachlorinated, heptachlorinated, octachlorinated ioxins were present. The isomers of the dioxins were separated and quantitated.
he highly chlorinated dioxins were the major components. In the soot from a eries of experiments, their total content ranged from 10 to 167 mg/kg of fuel.
he total yields of tetrachlorinated dioxins (TCDDs) ranged from 0.1 to 7.8 g/kg of fuel."
Science, Vol. 266 Oct. 21, 1994,T.J. Nestrick and L.L. Lamparski, Anal. Chem.
4, 2292 (1982)].
"With the exception of some very low California readings, all measurements of ood ash with fallout-cesium exceeded - some by 100 times or more - the levels f radioactive cesium that may be released from nuclear plants (about 100 icocuries per kilogram of sludge). Wood ash-cesium levels were especially high n the Northeast" [Science News, 1991]
