As discussed with Chris Jorgensen here are details on our European Workshop.

The first Hands-On Lead Free Workshop was Held on 6th July in Reading, England. The profits from the event was given to two UK based
charities.

The next Hands On Lead Free Workshops in Europe which are being held on:

Reading England 21 October
Scotland 26th October
Italy 1 December

This Workshop which aims to provide hands-on demonstrations of printed board assembly to allow alternative Lead Free materials to be
judged. Case studies of companies eliminating Lead will be provided along with the cost and environmental savings to be made.
Examples of the types of equipment and modifications to process equipment will be discussed and answers to the following questions:

Will existing wave and reflow soldering systems cope ?
What are the technical issues relating to soldering ?
Can components meet higher temperatures ?
What design changes are necessary ?
Will the solder joints look different ?

Each delegate will take away a workshop manual and a sample board produced with lead free solder alloy and includes a lead free BGA.
