Phil is right. We use Kapton as the label material. Any good Polyimide
will work, though. We went with thermal transfer for the printing. Much
better all around.

Subject: Re: [LF] WEEE label material

Genny,

As I remember Lexan is attacked (melted) by acetone. This type of label
stock is sometimes referred to as "calender vinyl" .

When I was designing Product Safety labels I ended up using the
following construction for an almost indestructable label.

Base material (printed surface) - 3M 7982 CP White Polyester
(0.0023-400)

Overlaminate - 0.001 Clear Matte Polyester

Adhesive - Permanent Acrylic

I hope this helps.

Subject: [LF] WEEE label material

We are wanting to start incorporating the WEEE symbol into our product
labels, so we don't have to worry about putting a separate label on the
product. Most of our product labels are printed on the backside of
lexan material.
Does anyone know whether lexan can stand up to petroleum spirits? Our
label vendor did not know.
If not do you have an alternate suggestion for label material?

Genny
