International has 2 openings for experienced Compliance Engineers and
Hazardous Substance Issue Leaders/Project Managers. If you are interested,

Sr. Compliance Engineer position summary: Leadership role to coordinate and
manage regulatory, safety, and standards compliance activities for Garmin
consumer products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
*	Ensure GPS development teams' success in designing to meet worldwide
Safety, EMC, wireless, SRD, Design-for-Environment and hazardous substance
regulations
*	Generate regulatory compliance plans to guide EE and ME design,
manufacturing, test, EMC prescreen and technical publications functions 
*	Responsible for the accuracy of the regulatory strategy,
satisfaction of our internal and external customers, as well as not becoming
a gate to product launches
*	Effectively track, manage and support multiple projects and
priorities, develop general process guidelines
*	Issue leader for assigned standards and directives in development,
forecasting the potential impact on product lines
*	Willingness to travel

	OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
*	Act as a company knowledge resource for regulatory compliance
information
*	Provide guidance on correct product labeling requirements
*	Provide compliance training to Garmin personnel as necessary

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
*	B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer
Engineering, Electro-Optics, Physics or Chemistry.
*	10+ years experience as a Compliance or Regulatory Approvals
Engineer, or Environmental Issue Leader performing duties similar to the
essential functions of this job description
*	Knowledge in Consumer and/or Marine and/or Automotive Electronics
and/or SRD (Short Range Device) and/or Wireless systems regulations and
certification schemes worldwide.
*	Proficiency in understanding and interpreting several types of
standards (SAR, UL, EN, IEC, NOM, CSA, FCC, CISPR, Industry Canada, ETSI,
ITU, JASO, SAE, ACMA, NZS, ANATEL, ICASA) and directives (R&TTE, Battery,
LVD, EMC, eMark, ELV, UN ECE, Recreational Craft, RoHS and WEEE)
*	Experience with ESD, EMC and EMI testing with proven ability to
review designs and offer suggestions for improvements
*	Detail oriented, organized, with demonstrated analytical problem
solving skills
*	Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*	Highly motivated and self-directed
*	Strong computer skills and knowledge of Office applications

	DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
*	Certification of products with any of these technologies: Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, DVB-H, DVB-SH, 3G phone
*	Marine communication and/or navigational electronics standards
(SOLAS or non-SOLAS).  Marine autopilot standards & certifications.
*	Cell phone standards & homologation experience
*	Proven leadership of a cross-functional team that put cost effective
processes in place to support RoHS or WEEE requirements.
*	China, Korea, Japan, Mexico or Brazil approvals expertise.
*	Planning or managing the implementation for REACH, EUP, China RoHS
or other environmental regulations.
*	Experience in working with regulatory and standards organizations
*	Experience with safety approvals for products using rechargeable
Lithium batteries 
*	Experience in safety compliance testing of electronic products
*	Experience in writing compliance reports and declarations of
conformity

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
*	B.S. Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer
Engineering, Electro-Optics, Physics, Chemistry or related experience
*	Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
*	Ability to understand and apply some of these standards (SAR, UL,
EN, IEC, NOM, CSA, FCC, CISPR, Industry Canada, ETSI, ITU, JASO, SAE, ACMA,
NZS, ANATEL, ICASA) and directives (R&TTE, Battery, LVD, EMC, eMark, ELV, UN
ECE, Recreational Craft, RoHS and WEEE)
*	Experience with ESD, EMC, EMI or product safety testing with proven
ability to review designs and offer suggestions for improvements
*	Detail oriented, organized, with demonstrated analytical problem

*	Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
