Dear All,

In the new edition of the UK Department of Trade and Industry's guidance note on RoHS (http://www.dti.gov.uk/sustainability/weee/RoHS_Regs_Draft_Guidance_August_2005.pdf) they list nineteen new cases (on page 8) for possible exemption that are being considered by the commission/consultants/TAC etc.

My query is this:

The third possible exemption states "Solders containing lead and/or cadmium for specific applications". Now what are those "Specific Applications"??? Anybody got any ideas?

I've rung the DTI and they are just as much in the dark and are awaiting a response from the commission. I'm about to email someone in the commission to get their view, but wondered if anyone on this email forum knew anything.
