Hi Carrie (just North of me), IPC LF Listservers,
One poster noted that your customer needs to take a reliability class.
I think that is the best answer. (s)He could also hire or contract with a
reliability person. We got Werner, Jean-Paul, and a few others. BTW I think
these guys are both in New Jersey and once worked together for a short
spell.
Matt tin on leads soldered with SnPb will give different reliability
results then Matt tin on leads soldered with Pb-free or LF on a different
or the same PCB surface finish. It is going to be application and component
dependent.
My first question would be: What reliability do you need, or know you need,
and what is your reliability tracking system. My guess is that your
customer doesn't know or have a clue. BTW there is nothing wrong with them
not knowing since SnPb has a long track record that makes one comfortable.
Yours in Engineering, Dave

P.S. Keep calling them, making them comfortable
P.S. After all, New Hampshire needs revenue to recover from those horrible
floods.
