Dear Leadfree-netters:

It is true that the European Union's Draft Directive on Waste Electronics
and Electrical Equipment (WEEE), that calls for, among other things, a ban
on certain chemicals -- namely lead, mercury cadmium, hexavalent chromium,
and halogenated flame retardants, in all electrical and electronic
equipment sold in the EU by the year 2004 is on hold.

It appears that the Commissioner resigned over allegations of mismanagement
and the resulting upheaval has left workproducts within her Committee up in
the air.

No word on when things will get rolling again.

Hope that helps.
