Lothar Thole has asked what OEMs who have a lot of non-RoHS-compliant
components left over can do with them besides replacing the termination
finish and then hand soldering them. One possibility that perhaps some
enterprising broker organization will undertake, is to sell them to a
company, such as the one I work for, that prefers that lead be present
in tin plating and has no intention of complying with RoHS. Companies in
my industry are faced with the opposite problem as Lothar's - we are
finding it increasingly difficult to get the termination finish we want
on many components we want to buy. (We share the problem created by
component manufacturers who won't identify termination finish in the
part number.)
