This coming the wake of the legislative mandate to make lead-free  electronic
products seem bazaar beyond reason.

It almost sounds like some sort of bad joke.

On the other hand, it also seems that to the meet the new  demands, one
excellent solution would be to use traditional tin-lead  solders for electronic
assembly.

Traditional solders will easily meet all of the proposed  requirements.

Perhaps this is their attempt to find a back door to let some logic  and
reason back in.
