Hi,
Plasma process for desmear of PCB requires Freon , the oldest enemy of
the greenies.

Bobby,
A simple and inexpensive way to expose the die in a package is to
'Plasma
Ash" the plastic. It is an old process and has been used successfully to
desmear PTH in a PCB prior to plating. It is also more environment
friendly.
If you need more information, there is a reference paper that can be
sent to
you directly since IPC will strip attachments.
