No - the JEDEC mark only considers Pb (and not the other RoHS
substances) and can only be used if the item is 100% Pb-free (i.e. use
of Pb in RoHS exempt applications is not acceptable).
JEITA provide guidelines for component marks that are more specific -
depending on where Pb may be present, but, there is currently no
standard 'RoHS compliant' mark.

Subject: [LF] circled E2 marking of components
Forum,
I have a question regarding the understanding of Para. 3.5 of the JEDEC
standard JESD 97:
Marking, Symbols, and Labels for Identification of Lead (Pb) Free
Assemblies, Components, and Devices
quote:
"Pb-free (lead-free): Electrical and electronic assemblies and
components in which the Lead (Pb)
level in any of the raw materials and the end product is less than or
equal to 0.1% by weight and also
meets any Pb-free requirements/definitions adopted by the ROHS Directive
2002/95/EC."
Does it mean that the term PB-free as used in the above quote can
actually be interpreted as RoHS Compliant?
We need to mark components packing that are rohs compliant, as declared
by the component manufacturer, and for one reason or another
had to be re-reeled or re-packed.
We would not like to design a new label but use a standard symbol. Do
you think that the circled E2 is a correct way for marking such
packaging?
Best Regards
Mickey Weiner
