Hello Subscribers,

Does anybody have any information on 'Transfer Impedance' testing for sheet
metal finishes. In particular how this could affect EMC. Are there any
standards?

Subject: Re: [LF] Off Topic? - Hex Chrome plating replacements

Phil,
If you have specific corrosion resistance requirements to meet,
clear chromate will not measure up to yellow in performance. Clear chromate
withstands 16-24 hours in neutral salt spray while yellow withstands 96
hours. If you have questions about RoHS and plating, a good resource is the
message board area at www.finishing.com. They have started up a section
devoted to RoHS, and the board is frequented by folks with vast experience
in metal finishing of all types. Give 'em a look..

Subject: [LF] Off Topic? - Hex Chrome plating replacements

Good morning,

I'm not sure if this is the right group to answer this, but here goes
anyway.

As we move forward with RoHS complaince the question of plating steel
and aluminum come up repeatedly. Currently we use Gold Irradite on our
aluminum and Yellow Chromate on steel.

What is the industry switching to? The clear versions of these?

Thanks in advance,

Phil
