How are different organizations dealing with obtaining compliance for
hardware "stock" items (ex:  screws, washers, nuts, etc.)?  It seems
that the vast majority of distributors of mounting hardware buys to
industry "spec" and cannot ascertain the true source of supply.  For
example, they seem to take the position that stainless steel is
inherently free of RoHS elements.  How can it be a safe bet when they
cannot identify specific manufacturer and chemical makeup?  Any
thoughts?
