I thought cads had been out of pigments for some time. Can certainly recall
trying to colour match cad colour in polymers with iron oxides >10 years
ago.
So far as solders are concerned, some countries have banned them already and
in nearly all other European countries people effectively self ban - either
because they can't discriminate between banned and unbanned in their
distribution, or they think cad is already banned or interpret the
proscription of cad in any form in any substance as applying to every form
in everything at any level.

Regards

Mike

Subject: Re: [LF] RoHS Directive

Hi UK-DTI's Nick, and IPC LF Listservers,

Great to have a DTI person here.

Thanks for the information on batteries, Cad

<------
<Consumables also do not fall within the scope of the directives>
<------

So all those little batteries in watches, clocks, etc and maybe bigger
batteries like in laptops aren't in your understanding covered by any EU
Directive. In the US, and in some states like MA, NY we have return
centers, usually a business like Tandy's Radio Shack, for rechargable
batteries. Mostly this is voluntary customer return program like HP printer
cartridges at Staples (A Mass Office Supply SuperChain)

How about consumables in a manufacturing setting??

Consumables is a troubling word since I believe cell phones, mini players,
etc fit into that category.

Nick, Please Add what consumables means.

Yours in Engineering, Dave
Y i Engr, MA/NY DDave
