Lee,
What amazes me is how my MS Outlook sent this entire string of messages to my Junk-mail folder ... possibly due to the unusually large file size?? [140-150K vs the normal 10-14K]. Could not be content ....
My view is that Banks are in business for the MONEY [profit], whereas CU's are more non-profit and supposedly in it for the member's benefit. We deal with a small rural bank and have great service, but the mortgage is through Fifth Third [on the list, below] and get mediocre service. If a credit union were available, we would likely switch. Until then, our smallish bank is the next best thing.
I am a capitalist, however, I do feel there needs to be some degree of discretion/restraint/honesty in how some of these banks 'do business'. Like some people in Federal government office, some of these bank activities embarrass/disgust me. My mamma didn't raise me THAT way!
Like cars - you get some good ones and some bad ones!!
You have likely already seen this article in the NY Times, regarding the least trusted banks in America.

I do not know how you could possibly we aware of how my credit union is performing since you are not of aware of which credit union I am a member! I am very much aware of how credit unions insure their accounts. Look up Truliant and I am sure you will be amaized.
