Hi Richard,

Thank you, and I agree the statement is too long.  You ask a very good
question about who should fund the studies.  I don't feel the EPA has any
particular axe to grind, but the politically appointed directors can and do
influence their published scientific reports.  An industry consortium could
do the work and the present administration in Washington would be receptive
to that, but it would have little credibility with the public, at least here
in the U.S.  Overall, the university community could probably do the best
science but they have less access to funding.  The real question is what
group of researchers would have the most credibility to the WEEE?
