I was concerned to see the comment on Pb risk to electronic assemblers.
My understanding till now is that soft soldering was specifically not a
possible cause of Pb poisoning and was actually excluded from provisions
of lead at work safety requirements. Maybe I need to brush up on this
aspect so I would be pleased to receive any references in this respect.

Regards

Mike

Subject: [LF] Compliance Question

Folks,
It is good to have a sense of humor. Even the Devil in hell appreciates
it.

Some poisons kill instantly ( make us take immediate notice), some take
years to accumulate and then either kill or put us into a bad shape to
enjoy life. Lead poisoning is in the second category. According to 2001
CDC survey, 8,723 children has a BLL of > 25microgram/dL which is much
higher than targeted 10 microgram/dL. Lead is neurotic and can damage
nervous and renal systems in children who are more vulnerable. However,
adults are not immune to lead poisoning either as shown below. In
electronics manufacturing, operators in wave soldering, SMT reflow and
rework operations can develop lead poisoning symptoms and need to be
monitored every three to 6 months.
