Hi Chris,

The specific boards are now soldered with a low melting point 43/43/14,
Sn/Pb/Bi and the transformers are soldered with 63/37 Sn/Pb.
We haven't tried to solder them on the boards on the boards yet because the
transformers are tested before assembly.
It is an SMT component so we pick&place and reflow it..

Even if you succeed in getting them tinned you may still end up dissolving
them when you solder them into a circuit. We have seen selective solder
dissolve PCB pads.

How do you solder them into the circuit - could you take them untinned and
then let the solder process used to assemble them burn the lacquer off?

Hello all,

I have a question from our transformer factory they build transformers for
us with a Ø 0.019mm copper wire. They have done several lead free testing
but the have problems with the tin dissolving the thin copper wires.
The copper wires are soldered via a dipping method.
This the only component we can't get compliant yet for a specific board.
We are planning on doing a test with Sn/Bi but I would like to know if there
are any other alloys that we can use that will be hot enough to burn away
the coating of the copper wire but doesn't dissolve the wire.
