IBM has also had serious problems with zinc whiskers in the past.
Recently the state of Colorado had a major problem caused by zinc-plated
computer raised floor growing whiskers that broke off and were pulled
into the electronics by the cooling air. The whiskers caused shorting
and system failures.

Best regards,

Phil,

Have you experienced any issues with whiskers forming on that zinc
plated hardware?
NASA has had some serious problems with it.
