Yes apparently the Euro-parliament people got more than a little upset with
the list of exemptions recommended by the TAC, and are going to sit on it
for 3 months I believe.

Oh - well,

I believe they need a brilliant engineer who is also a first class
politician to mediate these issues between the TAC and the
legislators..............any volunteers??

John

Parliam ent complaint

Hi Gordon, Pascal, Tin's Kay, IPC LF Listservers,

This really has to do with a follow up on the EU-P TAC etc difficulty.

On the tin technology site

http://www.tintechnology.biz/soldertec/soldertec.aspx?page_id=0

You will see a blurb confirming Gordon's suspicions that the exemptions are
up in the air. I know I am the last to know.

<=== Blurb from the soldertec site ==>

RoHS exemption decisions challenged

The draft exemptions list recently agreed by TAC (meeting 16th Dec. 2004)
has been withdrawn following complaints from the European Parliament that
it had not been accorded its right of scrutiny over the plans. The European
Commission is to recommence a committee procedure to agree the exemptions
from the RoHS directive, which is due to enter force in July 2006. Future
activities on additional exemption decisions may be affected and delayed
