I have a few questions for which I had been waiting for such a forum
focussed on environment protection. For all of us, the overall goal is to
make it all safe for those who work inside the facility and also make safe
for other living beings around us.

A typical electronics manufacturing facility can affect environment in a
number of ways. How to deal with them . Share your experience on these - how
you are dealing with them at your facility and how you are keeping workplace
safe. Some of these are :

1. Solid wastes : Solder paste wipes , cans , stencil wash solvents , solder
splashes, PCB boards with or without parts, solder balls
2. Solder balls on tables and tools
3. Solder dross from wave soldering machine
4. Chemicals e.g thinners, cleaning solutions e.g.Isoprophyl alcohol, flux,
braids, core wire residue , solder webs / splashes while handling /
inspecting boards
5. Mist of Conformal coating material in air
6. Contamination from adhesives e.g. glue, takpak,RTVs, etc.
7. Solder fumes from solder irons
8. Odor or smell from solder flux
9. other chemicals or additives or solvents used to clean boards
10. noise on production floor
11. Temp & Humidity level on production floor
12. Height of tables and workers with variable comfort height
13. Handling heavy parts manually ( less than 50 IBs)
14. recycling of packaging materials - card board materials, foams, plastic
bags, matrix trays, sticks, PVC / Poly styrene / polyethylene parts etc.
15. recycling of finished products - metallic and plastic enclosures, PCB
card assemblies, components, etc.
16. Electric shocks while working on ungrounded tables : ESD Protection

I will appreciate to hear from others how people are dealing with some of
these issues.
