Chuck,

You are wrong. It is not necessary to be 100% sure that climate change 
(not global warming) is caused by human activities because
a) we KNOW that fossil fuel pollution is a main cause of much human 
misery (the WHO estimates 3,000,000 deaths p.a. from energy-related 
causes and possibly 10 x as much illness requiring treatment). Cutting 
fossil fuel combustion will alleviate much of this and the economic 
purse strings of health care world wide.
b) combatting climate change will create jobs and boost the economy in 
both developed and developing countries.

Your economic disaster will not happen, unless we do nothing.
