Hi Per,
both the formed and inserted embedded passives are being used extensively across the globe. Depending on the product/market segment one type is typically dominant over the other. Since many product/market segments are divided somewhat geographically, you see a tendency for certain geographies to use one of these more pervasively than the other.
Typically North America, China and some parts of Europe utilize mostly formed. Japan and some parts of Europe are mostly inserted. Korea and Taiwan use a mixture of both. However, you can find the use of formed and inserted in every geographic location.

Hi Lionel,
When you say the boom is still there, are you talking about enbedded thin/thick-film resistors or embedded decoupling capacitance?
...or both?
