There seems to be the impression that Japan has taken the lead in 
embedded devices. This is certainly true in regards to embedded /active/ 
components, however this discussion has been about embedded passives, 
and China is doing a booming business in embedded /passive/ components. 
As far as we can tell its mostly with USA designs or Chinese designs 
that emulate those designs.

If the question is, "Has there been a boom in embedded passive 
components?" The answer is "Yes" and it's global.
