I note that this was a lab board, so unlikely to have had temp extremes 
or vibration during use. To get a crack like this I'm thinking some 
massive Z-axis expansion. On a lab board that may come about from 
excessive heating during (hand?) soldering, possibly because of the 
heatsinking of the track. This could lead to the barrel expanding & 
damaging the track. Is the board FR4? What sort, high temp, multifunctional?
