Yes, as published at http://dc.ipc.org/DCmembership/profmem.htm , two of the
benefits of DC membership include a free subscription to the ROUTE "monthly
newsletter" as well as access to this and other Forums.

Our Chapter also offers the service of posting resumes for members who are
out of work. My current employer found me from our Chapter's website.
Therefore, I owe the DC a debt of gratitude which I plan to repay by
promoting the DC whenever I can.

Hopefully the DC has gotten past the learning curve which came with the
personnel changes there, so they can get back on track publishing the ROUTE
on a monthly basis, to which we had grown accustomed.

Gary

Wouldn't the 'Route' be considered one of the benefits of membership in the
Designer Council?

When I ran a computer User Group - long long ago - there was a monthly
newsletter that went out. (I learned to use it as a reminder of the monthly
meetings - which helped keep the attendance up)

I personally put it together (lots of work), and know that the members
appreciated it, and it also gave them something other than a wallet-sized
membership card - that they could look at through the year.

(Yes, I know about the discounted specs... but you can only need to buy them
once.)

I would think that a newsletter - whether printed - or on disk (CD-ROM?) and
mailed out periodically - would be a priority.

P.S. When I was involved with that computer user group - it, too - was a
volunteer position with no pay - so I know that one has to work hard to work
an 8 to 5 job, and also take care of group-related activities.

Andy,

Regarding adding more DC detail on this listserv, I agree.

Regarding moving the chapter reports here instead of the ROUTE, I have
another opinion.

Background: The last edition of the ROUTE was published in May 2004. Shortly
thereafter, the persons responsible for publishing it, Nick Ban and
Stephannie Caliendo, left IPC. It was not until last fall when Jean
Hebeisen and Christi Poulsen assumed those duties.

The ROUTE has not resumed publication under the new regime. I have
requested on several occasions for Jean and Christi to prioritize that.
Jean emailed me last week that IPC intends to publish a March 2005 edition.

Conclusion: I would suggest we wait until mid-April to see if Jean comes
through. Regardless, perhaps we could circulate the chapter reports to both
locations.

Best Regards,
