You Dayton guys are lucky to have Rick,
Our chapter (Gateway - St. Louis) had the pleasure of having him speak
to us last year...
good stuff!

BTW, I prefer diagonals.

Ray,

You might want to read the following article by Doug Brooks:
http://www.ultracad.com/90deg.pdf

Interesting experiment with corners...

Most corners for traces have a radius at the outside corner anyway,
equal to half the trace width, due to photoplotting. Aside from that,
are you concerned about EMI? Impedance mismatch at any corner is so
small compared to anything else that a signal might see on a board
(vias, connectors, solder joints between IC leads and board, IC frame).
Good return path design and impedance matching will probably yield the
best results more so than the type of corner you use. It's good to see
that you are covering ALL the bases, leaving no stone unturned, have all
your ducks in a row, (insert your own quaint quip here), etc.

Something to ask the forum: Do designers of interposer boards for BGAs
use arcs or diagonals for routing? That would be an interesting answer,
no?

The IPC offers some courses on high-speed design at various yearly
conventions. (If you take a course, the ones given by Rick Hartley are
very informative. I am somewhat partial, though; he's in our DC
chapter.)

Subject: [DC] miter routes

Greetings and Merry Christmas Ya'll,

At what point does an arch miter have better performance than linear
miter? And where can I read up on this subject. I don't have access to
anything like P-Spice. I generally design to high speed digital signals.
