Susy,
  Our typical array has 5 boards, we have arrays with 2-10 boards.  This is what Dataram specs:
  Those printed circuit boards which are defective and are contained on a panel (hereafter called "X-OUT") shall be limited to no more than two (2) X-OUTs per panel. X-OUT boards on each panel shall be permanently marked. Cutting or Drilling holes in X-OUT'd boards is not permitted. Additionally, no more than 25% of the arrays in a given shipment lot for that part number shall contain X-OUT printed circuit boards.
The x-outs must be sorted per their location in the individual panel.
Example: A panel has five (5) boards.  Sort and bundle all 1st board x-out panels together, sort and bundle all 2nd board x-out panels together, etc.

Hi All,

We are having an issue at our company that I would like feedback on.

Our boards are smallish and arrive from the fabricator in an assembly array panel. Long ago, my company's specification document stated that we would only accept 100% good boards on these arrays (i.e. no x-outs) from the fabricator. The issue apparently has not been addressed (here) since that document was written. We have in-house assembly, so I was unaware of the issue until a fabricator brought it up to me. We are now looking into it and realizing that we are paying more for boards done this way and we may be able to allow 10%+ in X-outs on these arrays. (We know how to automate the process at assembly.) My question is, what is "normal" as far as the way others do things? Does your company accept X-outs and if so, what percentage do you allow.
