                          Analytical Answers Inc
                      Joint meeting with SMTA-Boston

The Greater Boston Chapter of the IPC Designer's Council will
hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 5th on site and hosted
by Analytical Answers Inc, in Woburn MA.

      Topic:

Failure analysis is a vital part of building reliable electronic
products. Understanding failure mechanisms, and specifying the
build cycle to suit the manufacturing process and expected life
of the product, are vital to avoiding surprises. This tour and
presentation will undoubtedly bring to life some of the many
pitfalls and possible solutions to common failure mechanisms.

Analytical Answers, Inc is an analytical laboratory with exten-
sive experience in materials characterization and failure anal-
ysis. AAI has the most comprehensive range of microanalysis and
surface analysis techniques in the east with the ability to anal-
yze particles as small as sub-micron in diameter as well as con-
tamination and films as thin as a few monolayers.

AAI uses analytical tools like Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier Transform
Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Auger Microanalysis (SAM),
and Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA) to solve
      industrial materials problems.

      Agenda:

Please note there is a $20 meeting fee for members, $25 for non-
members. Hors d'oeuvres and Finger sandwiches will be served.

take left onto Wildwood Ave, and then go to #4 Arrow Drive.

RSVP's required: (***PLS NOTE DIFFERENT RSVP PROCEDURE***)

RSVP by Friday June 1st (Friday before the meeting) at the
latest. Please mailto:[log in to unmask] and you will
      receive a confirmation by email.

      President's Note:

Once again I am very pleased to be able to offer a joint topic
with the local chapter of the SMTA. It is always beneficial
to get together with other interest groups in the process of
electronic product development. With continued shared exper-
iences, all parties can gain a more full understanding of the
full spectrum of issues we can affect in our daily works.

June traditionally marks the end of our meeting season, but we
do hope to keep the steering committee carrying on through the
summer. This is in order to keep fall meeting plans in motion,
and in hopes of offering new services to the membership. Please
consider joining the Steering Committee, every 2nd Monday, 6pm
at the Victoria Station Restaurant in Burlington MA.

      Mission:

Design is not called "do" for a reason. Done properly, the
design process is a creative problem solving discipline. To
address the packaging needs of electronics for today and to-
morrow, the physical designer needs an avenue to get exposed
and familiar with many different techniques and technologies.

The Greater Boston Chapter of the IPC Designer's Council is
committed to presenting stake holders from every aspect of the
packaging realm. Our hope is to help you gain insight and un-
derstanding of the many possibilities in solving core problems.

Your attendance, help and participation are most welcome.

      Thanks and regards,
--
