The resistors and capacitors that have that designation - 0603, 0805 - refer
to English units - and are like .060" x .030" or .080" by .050".

HOWEVER!!

I have noticed that many companies are switching over to the metric system,
and this includes renaming the discrete nomenclature.

There ARE - I believe a couple that translate to metric - and are 0805 and
0603. I think. (I would have to research this - and right now, I am doing
this from memory.)

So - be careful - and do not generalize - but generally speaking... <grin>
it's in English units - and not metric.
