There are a number of companies doing single layer deposition of conductive materials (usually silver) onto surfaces. A few were at this year's IPC conference. What will be exciting to me is when we can print multilayer boards. The CEO of nScrypt presented a paper on printing circuits with 5um accuracy (S17 01, Advanced Printing for Microelectronic Packaging). It seems right now much of their energy is going to print antennas on cell phone covers.
Most additive manufacturing advances seem to be coming from Europe, with the EU pouring billions in the sector.
If you know of anyone with a technology that can print dense multilayer PCBs that is close to the product stage looking for a customer, please forward them my contact info.

Eventually I hope to see someone develop a personal prototyping machine that makes a single board with multilayer construction out of carbon fibers and polymer materials... I think it's possible to do with existing technology...
